Quiz Liverpool

The annual Liverpool Quiz League Presentation Night was held at APH on Monday 5th June.  The Pairs competition and the MIMIR finals were held during the evening with Brian Thompson and Frank McHugh becoming Pairs champions and Mark Kerr becoming the 2023 MIMIR champion.

Online Quiz League are running their second individual championships on Saturday 24th June.  Many players have already signed up to play at venues up and down the country.  The day involves a written individual quiz featuring 240 questions across a whole manner of subjects and then fun team quizzes in the afternoon.

The inaugural event was held in March when over 300 took part and was very successful.  This time our local venue is the National Waterways Museum in Ellesmere Port. There are spaces left available there and it would be great to see those spaces filled with MQL players.  Registration closes on Sunday 11 June.

8pm Aigburth People’s Hall, Aigburth Vale, Liverpool, L17 0DG

Our evening will begin with the draw for the Pairs Competition. The questions are set by the winners of the last competition. Pairs are drawn from the hat for those wishing to enter the competition.

The first part of the Pairs competition is 40 questions, each pair of contestants writes their answers on the answer sheet. Following the first part the sheets are marked with the top six pairs going through to a 15 to 1 style knock out and then the top three carry on until the winners remain.

We hope that all Liverpool teams and Wirral Teams who took part in the Riley Cup, or any individual members of a team will join us to celebrate our 2023 season.

The winners of the 2023 Riley Cup Final were The Cricketers of the Liverpool Quiz league, beating Exiles (also Liverpool) by 53 points to 49.  Pictured below is the winning team showing Andy Firth, Nick Mills, Chris Quinn and captain Mark Kerr.

May I thank you all for getting the results to quickly to me last night, unfortunately one team had technical difficulties and could not get the information to me until today, but I could not update the draw until I came home late this evening.

Round Two games will be played on Monday 17^th April 2023. Questions will be sent by post as some of the home teams opted for paper questions and I do not want to mix paper and electronic distribution.

Quarter finals will be played on 24^th April 2023, so I would appreciate it if you would send the results in with the same speed as last night.
