LQL Charity Table Quiz

28th March 2025

Dear all,

You may have heard from Danny Grimes or Paul Davitt that we are trying to get the Annual Charity Table Quiz going again. It is on Friday 28 March at Christ the King Social Club, Score Lane, Childwall, Liverpool L16 6AW starting at 7.45pm.

Many of you will recall that these Charity Quiz nights were organised by Dave Cotson from 2004 until 2020. Dave sadly passed away a few months ago, and in his memory, we have chosen to support the North West Air Ambulance, one of the causes with which he was associated for many years.

Entry is £10 per person and includes a table quiz, a scouse supper or a vegetarian alternative and a raffle.
Teams of up to six players.
Teams with two or more regular Quiz League players are classed as “professional” and will contest the Andy Walsh Trophy. Andy was a Liverpool Quiz League player who died around the time that we started running these quiz nights. Over the years Andy’s family were staunch supporters of the events.
Teams with one or no quiz league players will contest the new Dave Cotson Trophy!

I hope that you might be able to join us to support this very worthwhile charity, enjoy the company and moan at the questions! If so, please contact Danny at andannygrimes@aol.com.

Details about online payment and selecting your supper option will follow soon.

We look forward to seeing you.

Dave Cotson RIP

Dear All,

It is my sad duty to write and advise you of the passing of Dave Cotson, he was a founder member of CTK Wanderers, they started playing in the early 1980’s and he was their first team Secretary.

He also played for many years in the President’s Shield and was part of the Liverpool 2 team that won the Shield 8 times in 11 years. Dave and Brian Thompson organised the annual CTK charity quizzes from 2004 to 2020.

In later years increasing ill health forced him to stop playing, but he carried on as question master until he was unable to play.

He will be greatly missed by his family, his friends from CTK Wanderers and throughout the League.
